Mother's Day

04-26-2020Pastor's LetterMsgr. Gregory W. Gordon

Dear Saint Anne Family,

On Sunday, May 10, 2020, we celebrate Mother’s Day.  As with past Mother’s Days, we will remember your mothers and grandmothers, living and deceased, in a Parish Novena of Masses. You may enroll your mother in our Mother’s Day Novena, writing her name on the enclosed envelope and returning it by mail before May 10; any offering may be made. We will place the names of your mothers upon our Altar where they will remain for the nine days of the Novena, from Sunday, May 10 through Monday, May 18.

Mother’s Day Mass Cards in English and in Spanish will be available in baskets in our Church sanctuary. If our Churches open before May 10, you may pick up a Mass Card remembrance for your mother or grandmother.

Dear Parishioners,

I want to thank you for all of the prayers you have offered and the concerns you have shown for one another during this difficult time of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The suspension of public Masses until further notice has been most challenging to all of us. I encourage everyone to join in making an act of spiritual communion together with the faithful at our livestreamed Sunday and daily Masses that we offer here at Saint Anne’s, and which may be seen on our YouTube Channel- stannelvnv, Facebook Page- stannelvnv1, and Parish Website- stannelvnv.org.

We are very grateful for our Diocesan televised Mass Ministry Channel 33 / Cox 6, and also EWTN Cox 349 and Relevant Radio AM 970, bringing the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and the comforting message of Christ, into our homes multiple times a day.

Needless to say, our parish will face many financial setbacks in the days ahead.

Easter

04-12-2020Pastor's LetterMsgr. Gregory W. Gordon

Attention Dear Parishioners of Saint Anne,

Know that Padre Gregorio and I are praying for all of you in our Easter Masses and our private daily Masses. We continue experiencing times of uncertainty and anxiety in our nation and world. Easter is a time to turn the Lord with our whole hearts, as individuals, families, and as a parish family, and celebrate that “Christ is Risen”. While the public celebration of Mass has been suspended, we continue to our Easter Masses privately and livestream them to you. And this is a time for us as individual Catholics and as families to offer intense prayer to the Father in Christ the Risen Lord: the Rosary, the Scriptures, the Memorare, uniting with God.

Covid 19 Outbreak

03-29-2020Pastor's LetterMsgr. Gregory W. Gordon

Attention Dear Parishioners of Saint Anne,

Know that Padre Gregorio and I are praying for all of you in our private daily Masses. We are experiencing times of uncertainty and anxiety in our nation and world. This then is the time to turn to the Lord with our whole hearts, as individuals, families, and as a parish family. While the public celebration of Mass has been suspended, our parish church will be open for small numbers of adorers in Eucharistic Adoration and private prayer.

Our Bulletin will look a little different these next few weeks, the 5th Sunday of Lent, Palm Sunday, and Easter Sunday inclusive. We will include in our bulletin all the prayer resources that Bishop Thomas has recommended to us and asked us to pray during these days of the Covid 19 Outbreak.

Thank you for faithfully uniting in prayer to the Lord. Thank you for calling upon Mary’s maternal intercession in these days. Know that our parish office is open the usual hours should you have a pastoral need, as well as our adoration chapel for prayer.

Letter from Our Bishop

03-25-2020Pastor's LetterBishop George Leo Thomas

My Dear Friends in Christ,

People across the entire globe have been plunged into a world of hardship and uncertainty as the coronavirus continues to take its toll in every nation. As individuals and families, we are facing the specter of critical illness, certain economic hardship, and the massive disruption of our daily lives. The Church is no stranger to adversity, suffering, or privation. In times of difficulty, she has always raised her voice in prayer and earnest supplication, confident that God will hear our every prayer and answer all our pleas. Down through the centuries, the Blessed Mother has played a vitally important role in times of trial, coming to us as a tender Mother, a tireless advocate, steadfast Intercessor, and cherished friend. She has visited her people under the familiar titles of Virgin of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Antipolo, and Our Lady of La Vang. She is beloved in Poland as Our Lady of Czestochowa, in Ireland as Our Lady of Knock, and in Japan as Our Lady of Akita. Mary is revered by the people in Bosnia–Herzegovina as Our Lady of Medugorje, and in Spain, she is treasured as Our Lady of the Pillar. Mary is known in France as Our Lady of Lourdes, and in Portugal as Our Lady of Fatima. On May 13, 1846, the Bishops of the United States unanimously chose the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Patroness of our Nation. Their decision was ratified by Pope Pius IX on February 7 of the following year. Now is the hour to turn to our Blessed Mother for her maternal help. She is always ready and willing to carry our prayers and petitions to the heart of her Son.

Letter from Our Bishop

03-19-2020Pastor's LetterBishop Thomas

My Dear Friends in Christ,

During the past few weeks, we have been carefully monitoring the health advisories and protocols issued by the Centers for Disease Control, the Southern Nevada Health District, and by Governor Steve Sisolak’s office regarding the measures needed to mitigate the Coronavirus.

In recent days, each agency has underscored the import and impact of “social distancing” as an indispensable element required to allay the impact of this global pandemic.

To that end, I have made the difficult but necessary decision to suspend the public celebration of Mass across the Diocese of Las Vegas, at least through the weekend of Palm Sunday (April 5, 2020) or until further notice. This includes the suspension of all Church services, parish meetings, and religious education classes, effective immediately.

Lent 2020

02-19-2020Pastor's LetterMsgr. Gregory W. Gordon

Dear Saint Anne Parish Family,

As we journey through this holy season of Lent, I pray that this time is one of blessings for you. Wednesday, February 26, Ash Wednesday, begins this moment of penance and prayer. In the Lenten week prior to Holy Week, on Tuesday, March 31, at 5:00 PM, we will celebrate our Lenten Penance Service. Seven priests will hear confessions until 9:00 PM. We invite everyone to come and receive reconciliation in the Lord this Lent.

We celebrate Palm Sunday on April 5. The Palm Sunday Mass schedule follows our Saint Anne parish Sunday schedule. Palm fronds will be available at the Church doors and in the vestibule of the Church before all Masses. Our Saint Anne Youth Group will offer for a donation hand-made Palm Crosses after Mass; this helps to support their Holy Week Encierro retreat activities.

CSA 2020

01-16-2020Pastor's LetterMsgr. Gregory W. Gordon

Dear Parishioners,

The Catholic Stewardship Appeal, CSA, is the annual appeal for the Diocese of Las Vegas, and an important aspect of Saint Anne parish life. The 2020 Catholic Stewardship Appeal, in our Diocese’s Silver Jubilee year, helps us to be good stewards in many Diocesan apostolates. Our parish assessment for 2020, based on our parish’s income last year, is $85,955, an increase from last year’s goal, but I believe it’s something we can meet and exceed. With this letter, I invite every family of Saint Ann’s to participate in the CSA in accord with your blessings from the Lord.

All funds received which exceed the diocesan assessment come back to Saint Anne parish, 100%, in the form of a CSA Rebate. This year, the rebate to Saint Anne from the Catholic Stewardship Appeal will be used for the following project:

All Souls Letter

10-13-2019Pastor's LetterMsgr. Gregory W. Gordon

Dear Saint Anne Family,

November is the month of All Souls, when we remember our faithful departed. As Catholics, we believe, in accord with scripture and tradition, that praying for the dead is “a holy and pious thing…that they might be delivered from their sins” (2 Macc. 12:45).

At Saint Anne Parish, we intercede for the faithful departed in our All Souls Day Novena, from All Souls Day, Saturday, 2 November, through Sunday, 10 November. On each of the 9 days of this Novena, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered at Saint Anne’s for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, including your deceased family members and loved ones.

Our annual ‘FUN FAIR’ school festival this year will be Sunday, October 13, from 8 AM - 9 PM. Our Fun Fair Raffle, which includes Grand Prizes of $3000, $2000, $1000, and many $100 prizes, will be drawn at 9 PM Sunday evening, October 13, at the conclusion of our festival. You may pick up your raffle tickets after Mass, or at the parish, school and CCD offices. You do not need to be present to win. It is always a blessing when the Grand Prize winners are among our parish and school families!

We also enclose some important information on our parochial School and on state School Choice Scholarships. They have greatly assisted many of our school families, and have made school tuition more affordable than ever before.
